PLAYER PLOT: RECONVENTION, INFODUMP!

Hello everyone! Sarah #2, your Kaiba player, with an OOC infodump post that will hopefully help you all with planning out what there is to do and what you guys can look forward to at the Convention at the end of the month, that is, if Retrospec doesn't mess things up. While PC businesses and involvement are highlighted below, if you would like a description of what NPC businesses and booths there would be at the con, please let me know and I can absolutely write something up to be included.

In addition, as the ReConvention is meant to be a mash up of E3, AX and KCON, there will be giveaways that your characters can sign up for to win cool sponsored merch and perks like free passes and stuff. I'll be RNG-ing the results the day before the con log goes up and will be contacting players who win things via PM or private plurk to hash out details of whatever prizes that your character has won.

The convention mingle log will go up on 27 July, Thursday!

So, without further ado, please click on the cut link below for a summary of areas, events and other information! Please feel free to use this post as a discussion base or if people want to arrange meet ups for their characters, etc! Go wild.

LOCATION: This year's convention is held at the Recolle Convention Centre and comprises the entire ground floor concourse as well as four separate indoor exhibition halls. I will be posting a floor plan together with the convention mingle log! There will also be a food market set up immediately outside the convention centre selling all varieties of street food and also gimmicky fandom foods.

ADMISSIONS: General Admissions to the showcase area and Artists Alley are free to the general public - most people will at least be vaguely aware of the convention happening, as there has been a lot of advertising going on in print and social media. However, events, panels and other performances and screenings are ticketed, and ticket packages can be purchased online through the convention website or onsite at the ticket booths set up near the entrance to the convention. Tickets range from free (first-come-first-served due to venue constraints) to exorbitant (front row seats at the opening idol concert, for example). Most tickets are priced at between $10 to $50 though, depending on how big the event is or how famous the person you want to get an autograph from is, while seminar tickets are free.

ARTIST'S ALLEY: Artist's Alley, coordinated and directed by Kasen Kanesada, is for independent artists, creators, writers or publishers to showcase their work and to sell merchandise. Expect to part with a lot of money here. Player characters who are involved in the artist's alley include:
Sakura Fujiwara and Shin Asuka's booth, selling prints and other assorted merchandise, and displaying a giant mecha.
Minako Arisato's booth, selling handmade plushies

EXHIBITOR'S SHOWCASE: A special area has been cordoned off in the concourse for companies who are involved in the media, gaming and other creative industries. Most of the booths here are sizeable, but those who are listed as convention sponsors tend to have a larger space. There is also a digital photo wall, and photos of the convention taken by the press corps, as well as social media photos hashtagged #reconvention on that day will be flashed across the screen. Booths of note:
Transcend:Game's booth will be allowing people to playtest the first chapter of their new game, currently scheduled for a Christmas 2017 release.
ÉcarlateSoft's booth will be showcasing previews of Empire of Blood III and Vampire's Creed: Origins.
Cubenix's booth will be giving out free Last Fantasy codes, while they're still available. There will also be a preview of the upcoming Gods of the Dragon Lord expansion.
Cablecorp's booth, mostly dedicated to the show that Cablecorp has broadcast rights to.
Retrospec's booth is inside an inflatable domed tent, blue in color. Inside there will be a television streaming Jim's proposal video at the top of the hour, but otherwise it's streaming footage of the convention. Your character may see themselves on-screen! There is also a basket of blowpops (lollipops with bubble gum inside), Retrospec pens and pads of paper, and stickers of their symbol.

EVENTS, PANELS, SEMINARS AND PORTFOLIO REVIEWS: Three of the four exhibition halls have been reserved for various seminars, panels and events that are happening throughout the convention - you will need tickets to get you in! Seminars and panels will be held by key members of the creative community, and some studios and other creative agencies will be holding portfolio reviews for aspiring artists or designers who would like to break into the industry. Some events that have been planned include:
→ Silk painting panel by Kasen Kanesada
→ Autograph, fan meeting and fan signing, photo opportunity events with the following people: Kurt Wagner, Shouto Todoroki, Anastasia "Anya" Vasilieva and Adamska Romanov
→ Kaiba himself will be doing portfolio review/critiques at the Transcend:Game booth
→ Screenings
→ Gaming tournament - rounds for the gaming tournaments will be held each day at specific timeslots, with the finals happening on the last day of the con! Games covered will be mostly the popular games that are currently in-trend aka the canon rip-offs of DOTA2, Overwatch, Starcraft, Guilty Gear and Street Fighter. Come try and beat Guda Mask.
→ Cosplay contest - The local cosplay community will be holding a contest on the 29th, so if your character is only cosplaying for one day, do it on the 29th for the chance to win some sweet prizes. I will probably be RNG-ing the winner of the cosplay contest.

OPENING IDOL CONCERT: Yeah. Self explanatory. This will happen at 7pm on the first day of con, on the 27th! Anastasia "Anya" Vasilieva and a few other acts will be performing in an approximately two hour long opening concert.

COSPLAYER REST AREA/STAFF AREA: The convention is cosplay friendly, not just on contest day! One of the exhibition halls has been repurposed to a cosplay rest area where cosplayers can take a break, change out to different costumes, and store props. This also doubles up as the staff lounge, office and storage area for the staff members and volunteers helping out at the convention. The press corps will be run from this room.

VIP HOSPITALITY AREA: VIP Passes are available if you want to fork out $250 per person, which aside from pretty much getting you free admission to almost everything, also allows you to have access to the VIP hospitality tent. If you're lucky enough to have won one, or have gotten a pass as a corporate guest or sponsor to the convention, this is pretty much a super fancy area where all the schmoozing happens. Each guest holding a VIP pass is allowed to bring in two additional guests, maximum, at any one time.

FOOD MARKET: Because inevitably people are going to get hungry during the con. Food trucks, stands and carts will be available, providing a variety of foods, enough to eat yourself into a food coma, I guess. Some of them may be gimmicky fandom foods, who knows. Club Sunshine's maid/hostess cafe will also be situated near enough to the food market, with both indoor and outdoor seating - and! They will be the only place at the convention that is allowed to serve alcohol from 6pm to 9pm. Other stalls include:
→ Cupcakes from The Confectionary
Retrospec is sponsoring a drinks stand! There will be lime juice, lime tea, limeades, lime smoothies available.

Goddamnit that infodump was long. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to post in the top-level below, or, if you like, you can contact me by private plurk at [plurk.com profile] thelightroyale or on Discord (Sarah#1309).

SEE YA AT THE CONVENTION IN TWO WEEKS.

Is there any indication before Jim's proposal video goes live that it's going to be happening?

Because someone absolutely needs to make a betting pool about whether Janet's going to reject him for everyone to see, if so.
