JANUARY 2019 PLOTTING POST
|
PLOT POST - January Welcome to our January plotting post! Please feel free to comment to these posts with your character's plans for the month or with what you would like to do for the month, and feel free to discuss those plans with everyone else! Here is the mod questions thread! MOD BULLETIN BOARD -With the polls in, we would like to take the time to announce the following. AC -With the vote being as close as it is, we will be instilling two new options to be utilized for AC! Our first option will be keeping AC the same as before. This means that players may submit threads for points as always (network comments being 1 point, action comments being 2.) These will be counted as usual by the moderators. A second option will be changing AC to where players may submit a summary for bonus points instead, allowing the moderators to read and review a monthly write-up and determine points based on this. This write-up would be a summarization of what your character has done in the month whether it's plot-related threads, character development threads or more. Dependent on the presentation and review of the summary, mods would determine the amount of points given each month. In addition, with these two choices we will host a points donation pool. Each month, we will allow for players to donate points to be awarded to their fellow players. Players may sign up for this pool, and at the end of the month (pre-AC closing), moderators will reply to sign-ups with the amount of points rewarded per month. This line item would then be added to your own AC for the month. Please keep in mind; we will still require regular AC and these options are simply for bonus points! Players still must submit 20 comments (up to 4 threads may be used, minimum of 3 comments on one thread) and one mod-approved regain. We will update the AC post and open January's donation pool post-AC (i.e. January 3rd.) We will link the posts and announce the changes again in addition to posting the monthly drop list. Reserves -Based on the votes received, we will have reserves open for one week during application months. However, applications may still be accepted during the application period without a reserve required. Endgame -Finally, based on votes received, we will be aiming for an endgame period of August 2019. While this may change to slightly earlier should anything drastic change, we feel that the earliest we will wrap the game is July 2019 regardless of the number of players, etc. Canon Elements Plot Implementation -As discussed on the feedback post, one of the things we will be doing going forward in 2019 is allowing players to submit certain canon elements to be used in future event plots. We have created an element submission post here for anyone who wishes to sign up, read things over, etc. While it's not guaranteed we will use every suggestion, we will do our best! Regains -As discussed, we will also be offering the option for players to receive a special extra addition for memory and item/ability/etc regains! We have created a new regains post here that also includes updated forms. Starting in January 2019, players will have the ability to opt in to how memories are received. By opting in to sensory experiences, the modteam will write up a special little addition for how your character's memories will come to them. This may be a vision, a kind of dream, a scent, a hallucination, etc. This will also apply for items/abilities, which may be written in the form of delivery method, mini-quest, etc. This is entirely opt-in, and players do not have to sign up for this if they do not wish. We hope this changes things up and makes things a little more fun for players looking for new experiences to play with! -We will have an opportunity for a monthly freebie every month going forward! However, we would like to clarify that all freebie regains must be applied for before the end of the AC period! We do not accept freebies beyond this barring specific circumstances. -While freebies can be submitted at any point in the month, we would like to remind players that per the regains guide, we do ask that the last tag from you on a thread submitted for regular memory regains be no older than 14 days. Please do not trigger your own memories without submitting them and getting them approved by us first! Please also be mindful and keep your registries up to date with both memories and abilities! -Additionally, please remember there is no limit to how many regains you can earn in a month! Though you need one memory regain for your AC, you're free to claim as many as allotted for the month so you have time to pick and choose which one to link for AC. Remember that a regain is only eligible for AC if it has been approved by us in the current AC month. Please be sure to turn your regains in early to ensure they are reviewed prior to AC! -We would like to use this time to provide a friendly reminder to please use your character tags to tag yourself on posts and logs! This helps keep things organized not only for us but for your gamemates as well. In addition, if there is an error with your character tag or you need us to change anything, please let us know. WORLD CHANGES • At this time there are no new world changes! Be sure to check out our world changes page over here and our world regains page to track all changes and read up on our guidelines. Players are free to buy back certain aspects of their canon to help impact and change the world as well, though we may delay the installment of some features for plot purposes. Players may also contribute points toward bringing back world patches representing their canons that other players may explore outside of the city! Please see the world changes page for more information. Of note: players are allowed to help contribute to buying world changes not from their own canon. Players may donate up to 500 points to another player's cause. When donating points to a canon buyback, please put them on the same world change page here! Please note, these are only for world changes and not items/powers/personal locations/etc. EVENTS EVENT, PT 1 Thanks to the work of several Retrospec users and the death of Akira Turner (aka Light Yagami), a new insurgence of data has reached the technical department of Retrospec itself. With the threat "removed" from the city, however, things around the users begin to fluctuate. As the Retrospec project begins to shrink and the select number of users grows smaller, the technicians begin to realize it's time to prepare the users for what's to come. There's no sense in hiding it any longer, especially now that they've been able to track down the source of several spikes of magic and supernatural activity. For the last several months, Retrospec has not been able to control the effects and boundary lines of the city itself due to being underpowered. Thanks to the work of citizens though in regenerating themselves, it's easier for them to begin delving further into the layers. It has since been discovered that one (1) Clarence Vanderweele is alive and well, capable of his illusionary magic and inflicting his abilities on the Retrospec project itself to weed out those he does not deem worthy and working behind the scenes to create an alternate plan. With the newest group of Retrospec techs still researching Vanderweele's abilities and past archives of the original project, Retrospec users will have to go forward and work on breaking outward to reach inward. Beginning on January 5th, the temperature of the city will rise as heat swells around Recollé. The snow begins to melt and natural landscapes and flora will dry out to the point that they may catch aflame if overheated. Should anyone try to leave the city to explore any of the four regions outside or even the boundaries outside of the six districts of Recollé, they will come face to face with a very literal firewall. Crawling high to the sky and impenetrable, the wall of fire can be put out if citizens work together utilizing magic, trade skills, or even good old-fashioned methods such as buckets of water or blankets to smother the flames. The longer the flames go unattended, the further inward the flames will move to encase the city. Strangely, however, the fire doesn't seem to burn anything in its path. It's hot to the touch and it will burn characters if they get too close, but structures and landmarks will not be destroyed. It seems as though this wall is solely used to keep characters in...or something else out. As characters take out the flames they will begin to find a variety of silver doors not unlike those that appeared in November. Though several of these doors will be locked, passing through other open doors will allow characters to find keys that can be collected to open the rest of the doors. Beyond the doors, characters will find themselves in small pockets not unlike the portals they had been pulled through in December via the baubles and the snowflakes. However, these portals are a bit different. The places you'll find yourself in are unfamiliar to you, and will be host to a variety of monsters, mazes and the uncanny that will test strength and willpower of characters. Entrance to the fifth layer of consciousness has been granted, dear users, and it's up to you to start mapping out the area, unlocking pathways and breaking blockades to allow everyone to dive further and reach a new, unexplored sixth layer. For this portion of the event, the focus will be on putting out the firewall of security and examining doors for which ones may and may not be unlocked. Characters will have the opportunity to explore doors that are opened as well and collect keys to be used to open various chambers and permanently grant access to everyone to further explore in part two. Part one will also be able to be carried over into part two to allow characters IC time to unlock pathways (and allow players enough time OOCly to start threads, etc.) EVENT, PT 2 As characters continue putting out the firewall and opening doors, security blockades and "pop-ups" will begin showing up. Abilities will be on the fritz, passages will send characters in new directions and leave them "stuck" between layers of consciousness, and most importantly characters will realize that time passes much differently inside the doors than it does in the city. Characters may feel that they've spent weeks or months inside one place, while it's really only been five minutes in the real world. Likewise, characters in other doors may only delve inside for fifteen minutes of exploring and come out a week later. However, it's important to unlock all of the doors and destroy the blockades in order to rescue those who have slipped between layers and are awakening on the second layer of consciousness, i.e. "Awakening. An understanding that life as you know it may not be as it appears, the first portion of recreation and reconstruction. The full ability to see the first layer." With January being an app month, the second part of January's events will be coupled as our TDM as well! This means there will be special roles/prompts for TDM characters and in-game characters will have a chance to play off of potential applicants for plot-related event results. Characters in-game, as mentioned, will experience the possibility of being "stuck" between layers of consciousness. What exactly does this mean? Currently, there are five known layers. "FIRST RING: "Awareness. Sense of something amiss, though easily explained away as things as they've always been. Meant to preserve order and balance from those who are not under reconstruction." SECOND RING: "Awakening. An understanding that life as you know it may not be as it appears, the first portion of recreation and reconstruction. The full ability to see the first layer." THIRD RING: "Enlightenment. Beginning to reconstruct as soul energy grows and flourishes. Retrieval of original form. Abilities begin to form and changes begin to occur." FOURTH RING: "Exploration. The ability to further see and explore areas outside of the safe haven/hub. Souls just beginning reconstruction will be too fragile to explore far. Solution: stabilization." FIFTH RING: "Expansion. The full purpose of the project begins to expand in this layer and allows for an overlay."" Characters will have the possibilities of falling off of the app entirely and not remembering anything about themselves, powers not fully working, memories glitching and creating gaps, not being able to fully explore areas they used to have access to and being trapped in certain areas as their souls become unstable. Characters will have to unlock all of the doors before January's end and deal with the parallels of time in order to stabilize the layers and move forward into layer six! Depending on if this goal is reached, February's events may change. Characters will also ICly be made aware of this! We will design the logs so that characters immediately know their goals and may work together toward these goals and know what to expect. There will be a space to let us know if your character has explored a certain area and obtained a key, and we will also have a space players may sign up for small, randomized scenarios behind "wildcard doors" for various threads. More information will be available on the logs. FREEBIE -Players may claim one freebie for a thread on the mod-posted Retrospec post that is 10 consecutive comments from you! -Players may claim one freebie for a thread in which they take out part of the firewall. This must be at least 5 comments from you. -Players may claim one freebie for a thread in which they explore one of the open doors on either log. This must be at least 5 comments from you. -Players may claim one freebie for a thread with a character that is TDMing. This must be at least 5 comments from you. -For your reference, check out the plot clues/finds page found here! This is all for OOC knowledge, though characters have been spreading the information ICly as well. As of this post, this plot page is up to date. -Additionally, if you haven't yet be sure to check out the regains guide to help outline what kind of triggers will work for obtaining regains and memories in-game. As mentioned above, please feel free to comment to this post (and to each other) with your character's plans for the month for plotting and CR building. |
