End of April Updates

Hello everyone! This is just a brief end-of-month announcement/poll for you guys as April draws to a close…

-We would like to clarify that you may redeem bonus points for threads that are backdated! If a thread was started in March but there are new tags from April, you may redeem those tags for points. Just link your thread when the April comments start so that we can see they're eligible for the month. Additionally, please remember that TDM threads can also count as bonus points! For new characters, you will be allowed to redeem these points for May's AC, and these points will be available for you to use in June.

-Our IC Retrospec post will go up at 9pm EST on 5/1! Our plotting post with details about the month ahead, mod updates, and etc. will also go up on 5/1 at 12am EST, directly after applications close! So basically think of it as plotting post goes up Sunday, IC post goes up on Monday in this case.

-On that note, we've mentioned this on plurk and in the ooc intro, but we do ask that threads with new players/characters do not begin until 5/1! This is solely for continuity sake/AC tracking, etc.

-Our final item of business is that we completely forgot to schedule an HMD for the month of May as we mixed up our bi-monthly posting schedule. We were trying to schedule HMDs to coordinate in non-app months and in doing so that would mean our next HMD wouldn't be until the beginning of June.

Our question for you as a playerbase is: would you prefer an HMD to go up at the beginning of May? Or would you prefer we stick with the schedule we had originally tried to follow with posting a bi-monthly HMD during non-app months? Alternatively, we also have the option of posting one for May, one for June, and then the next would be August. We wanted to hear your opinion on the matter before we make a decision either way (even if it's not an option we've listed here. Hit us with other suggestions if you'd like!)

And that's it! Thank you guys for another awesome month, and we look forward to seeing you in May!

-The Recollé Mod Team

Perhaps encourage players to contact the mods on the appropriate (posts) for feedback on specific events or other game stuff would be about all it is worth.I didn't see that much activity on the HMD post itself (I'm not sure about people's personal and off-comm posts for it) so my vote would be not to bother with an HMD for May as 1) new players wouldn't have much to contribute on there and 2) it seems time better spent on other business. Definitely not worth mixing up the schedule as-is since you'd end up with a month gap somewhere or doubling up elsewise.

"Several hours before" on that post timing isn't clicking for me, so just to check my math here - the May plot post and mod updates post will go up immediately as apps close Sunday night EST (as they have been), and the May Retrospec post will go up Monday night EST?

Thanks for all the updates and clarification mods!

As for my preference about HMD...honestly? I don't have a strong opinion about if it should be May or June, just because I feel like having HMD be bimonthly in general is a bit excessive. I mean, I completely understand the point of HMD and I'm not against that. It's just we're already required to have an HMD post on our journals, and it's AU so no one is really expecting 100% ICness anyway (because then it wouldn't be AU) ... so having a bimonthly HMD meme I admit, just seems a bit pointless. I mean, it'd be one thing if people were actually utilizing them, but I looked back on both memes and besides a couple comments to the mods-- there are next to no responses.

So I guess my own opinion is maybe switch HMD to something of a less frequent schedule? Like maybe seasonally instead of bi-monthly, I don't know. It's not really that huge an issue with me, just something that I noticed.

(sure wish I had an icon that didn't look like resting bitch face)

Yeah I can totally see that as legit reasoning for the scheduling. Recolle's a pretty new game, it takes time to tweak out what schedule works best for it.

But no problem! Thank you for listening! I really appreciate having a mod team that talks with the players, for real.

In regards to HMD, my opinion is that since this round of HMD has passed, to post it in June as scheduled is the best option. A bimonthly HMD is a feature I do like in this game - despite people having journal HMD posts, a gamewide HMD also offers the opportunity for players to explain that their activity may have been slowed due to circumstances out of their control, or any other known issues. I've always seen it as another route to specifically ask for feedback as well if someone's curious about the reception of certain aspects of their playing - we may be AU, but if someone's worried that they've been playing their character completely unrecognizable, then they can say that and request critique from an area that isn't just their plurklist, if that makes sense.

That also could work, especially since, as you've pointed out, the plotting posts get more traffic. As long as there is a method to give that heads up, then I think whatever's chosen should be workable!
