DISCUSSION: PLOT INFO SHARING

Hello everyone!! My name is Dana and I'm here to brings up some things about plot. Although a lot of the information is written up for Group One (just given game mechanics) - but everything else would be gamewide and if anyone's interested in jumping in, please do!

It gets kinda bulky underneath the cut so here's a quick table of contents:

OOC PLOT SUMMARIES

Alright, that's what it says on the tin!

Based on what I could find on my own search - and please feel free to tell me if there's anything to add here! - this is what I could find/wrote up for ease of access!

Based on how we'd like to proceed, I might keep going with this method if that'd be preferred? However I do want to say that the Overall Group One doc was written based almost entirely on information shared on the Retrospec post.

Small caveat: please note that since this information was all given ICly, there may be some room for error!

Given that, would everyone want to move forward with another top-level this week for info-sharing and information gathering? Please confirm/deny and I can slap one together later today when Week 3 starts! Of course, should someone else want to be the one to put it up, by all means!

IC PLOT DOC

Now so far 2/3 links that I provided above are OOC written - not yet consumable in an IC manner. While I can personally say that anyone who talks to Baren about plot can receive all the information - handwaved or threaded, just let me know if you want an actual thread! - I think that having an IC doc would be best since not everyone would want to talk to him?? So I'm throwing ideas around regarding that...

POST-EVENT INFO SHARING LOG

Once Group Two is back, I presume everyone would want a log for sharing information, maybe? If nothing else, it might help getting all that information in one place so while logistics specifically can be handled closer to the date, I only have one question:

Should the log be before or after apps are processed and the newbies enter the game?

While I don't feel strongly one way or another - if it's before they enter the game then ideally the IC info doc would be available to get them all caught up on what they need once they're in. If it's after, it would be a few days after the intro log - but I sincerely don't want to cause any clutter or anything that could pull away from their beginning in the game.

Any suggestions on this would be appreciated!

If anyone's character would be interested in helping or if someone wants to get involved, please please please do! I'm 100% up for collab on this since I know so many characters are curious to get a bite into plot.

I assume most of the clues will go on the mods clue page? This one! So I guess my question is, will this be redundant as a resource?

oh my god you're fine, all my icons are of baren and therefore punchable by default

BUT THIS IS VERY POSSIBLE. to my knowledge though, that's an ooc resource? some of these things have been shared on the network but idk if all of them have, but that might just be missing posts while on hiatus or something. at least they're not widely known and compiled in one place ICly - but if we'd like to come up with a handwaved document that matches the content of the ooc page that could work?

YEAH I meant the -- ooc plot summary bits? SCROLLS UP AND SQUINTS. It was Midnight when I replied I sort of got the impression there was meant to be an ooc reference though now I re-read I guess I... got muddled with the constant reference to IC and OOC docs in the same area? I'm tired idk

Tho I guess for the IC doc I'd vote dreamwidth post over GDOC just so we arent forcing GDOC loading on people. Like, I know I tag a lot on my iPad and loading GDOCs on that is ass. And I don't know why I started capitalising that but I guess I did. I mean why not just make a retrospec IC post and persuade people to ICly place all their information into it then edit it into the top section or something that seems more natural and easier for everyone to access?

TBH I just hate referencing gdocs and it feels weird to put something IC outside the comms

LMFAO NO YOU'RE SUPER FINE, the ooc plot summary bits were actually just for my own team's purposes and what some people I know asked me for - I may or may not continue with them based on if people would want them? especially since now the major plot info is out so it may not be necessary

I think that makes sense too! That's a solid idea. idk if the info sharing post will be log or network (I'll be talking to Mohammed's player about what they want to do) but regardless we can try to compile all the information in one editable top-level for sure that makes sense to me

Yeah like that way everyone can talk about it in the comments too? And it isn't just a mess of different coloured fonts and people backspacing things accidentally and writing over each other and weird meta jokes.

BUT NO YOU'RE RIGHT - I think it would be hard to keep track of ICly so comments might be easier and it wouldn't require an offsite link.... I'll throw the idea around and see if we can come to a consensus!

I also know at least one member of this game uses a screenreader, and I don't know how well a messy gdoc would translate for that?

Equally though -- I can probably help with Laurent too if we need people to set this up. I guess it depends if we want to split a general event round up type thing and an overall retrospec info gathering post? I'd kept debating making a new post for people to discuss and share things since some of it was buried at the bottom of the retrospec post but didn't want to like, step on anyone's toes since I knew a few ideas were being thrown around.

COMPLETELY FAIR - then yeah, I'll see if we're good to do the hashing out live on a log/network post maybe and then some dw post that takes all public plot info and compiles it. I dunno if we'll need a log & network post separately to round it all up, it might just be harder to keep track of what info goes where?

Oh of course!! No, you're super fine to make a new post if you'd like - I've been out of town this weekend (which is also why I've been slow, my b!) and I think the info gathering overall is nice to have. Could always ask other players too if you're not sure?

I think that an IC google doc would be the quickest way to share information, but a Dreamwidth post would be good to summarize everything once we've shared our information.

And in regard to sharing group 2 information, I think we should put it up after apps are processed.

BLESS, I have some character development plans for Baren in the beginning of September that require a separate log so if someone else wanted to put up the ic info sharing that'd be super appreciated so I don't spam the comm?

Brandywine's objectives for week 2 got changed mid-week, actually. details here. Basically instead of getting in the library we spent the week opening it and we're getting to Baroque in week 3. For clarity's sake.

You mean like an IC post? If we're doing IC I think that might be better off done after everything is said and done so we can have all our ducks in a row in terms of what we know and don't know? But that might just be me.

no, I see what you're saying!! I think that's fair - the majority of plot info (re: unreality twists, voids, things that group 3 can jump in and help with) is already out there. so we might not need a big info meeting until plot's all said and done.

Well that and it might be prudent to see what can be combined with the knowledge group 2's amassed is something I'm also thinking. Like at this point it's better off as a total game collection I feel like.

( I mean I could also set something up or we could do a chance encounter on her current post or in one or another's inbox, no need to necessarily put the entire onus on you. but I'll be looking forward to it regardless, yes! )

Mira brought up that not all the information on the mod clues page has been super accessible to the game at large - so there miiight just be a smaller post that's similar to the mod clues page that'll just cut out the parts that haven't been shared to the game?

firstly, i'm going to say i'm leaning towards the log happening before newbies enter the game in order to not overload people who want to get involved with new cr and the new month's happenings once september kicks off. however, i understand if people want it later to offer that opportunity to newbies!

that said, i have no feelings on an ic plot doc, but an ooc one might be good, if only because the mod plot page doesn't cover every detail discovered and found icly. it may be good to have one that newbies can read and review and know what's been publicly circulated. mod clues are there in the page, yes, but some of the information i don't believe has been made widely public knowledge to our retrospeccers

as for an ic top level this week...possibly, if it feels necessary?

i gotchu, mira!! nah that makes sense to me and it'd have to depend on the timing of the post too? it sounds like people would rather get a log going after the newbies are in - would a week or two of time be good, do you think? but also september is when school starts for people so... hand weighing motions

TRUE - I wouldn't want there to be confusion regarding "this part of the mod clues page is relevant, but the others aren't" since some characters might not have shared all their info.... would a google doc work for that?

Ritsu's a big little nerd so of course he'll be all over IC info-sharing once Group 2's back! ... Aside from actually directly dealing with people. That's fine.

As for a vote to IC google doc, it should probably be certain people but getting input from the rest of the members. The log has my vote for being after the newbies are in, as an additional opportunity to meet new CR in person(??? if I'm reading log as in log right), as well as it probably being a light month without a plot event.

nope, that all super makes sense to me!! we're considering maybe not a google doc since that'd be another document off-site and might get unwieldy when it comes to like - different font colors to distinguish ic characters? .... so maybe we'll compile info that comes up from the ic discussion post once post is said and done? does that sound like a solid idea?
