PLOT POST - August Welcome to our August plotting post! Please feel free to comment to these posts with your character's plans for the month or with what you would like to do for the month, and feel free to discuss those plans with everyone else! Here is the mod questions thread! MOD BULLETIN BOARD -As voted on by the game, the next application round will be in September! New characters will arrive in-game in October. -We have changed the posting schedule for the game! Please be sure to read the calendar very carefully to know when each post will be going up! -Due to recent shifts in the playerbase, we are down a few AC helpers and would love to have more on deck! If you would like to help us process AC at the end of every month, please send us a PM or leave a note on the mod contact page. -We will have an opportunity for a monthly freebie every month going forward! However, we would like to clarify that all freebie regains must be applied for before the end of the AC period! We do not accept freebies beyond this barring specific circumstances. -While freebies can be submitted at any point in the month, we would like to remind players that per the regains guide, we do ask that the last tag from you on a thread submitted for regular memory regains be no older than 14 days. Please do not trigger your own memories without submitting them and getting them approved by us first! Please also be mindful and keep your registries up to date with both memories and abilities! -Additionally, please remember there is no limit to how many regains you can earn in a month! Though you need one memory regain for your AC, you're free to claim as many as allotted for the month so you have time to pick and choose which one to link for AC. Remember that a regain is only eligible for AC if it has been approved by us in the current AC month. Please be sure to turn your regains in early to ensure they are reviewed prior to AC! -We would like to use this time to provide a friendly reminder to please use your character tags to tag yourself on posts and logs! This helps keep things organized not only for us but for your gamemates as well. In addition, if there is an error with your character tag or you need us to change anything, please let us know. -FINALLY, please see this comment to link us to any AU changes you will be keeping past August! IMPORTANT DATES 1st Retrospec Post 9PM EST 5th Event log Pt 1 at 9PM EST 17th Event log Pt 2 at 9PM EST 25th EMP 31st AC Due see our calendar for a look at upcoming dates this month and further! WORLD CHANGES • On the outskirts of Recollé, a new amusement park appears! Rainbowland is a small themepark somewhere containing a ferris wheel, carousel, roller coaster, gyro tower, an assortment of child-friendly rides (teacups, bumper cars, hurricane, octopus), a train, restaurants, a midway, and a Monster House. The Monster House is a major attraction, located at the end of the central promenade of the park. It features live actors, dressed up as various monsters, jumping out at you in each room. Currently Rainbowland contains: the grounds, the midway, the carousel, and the children's rides. • Kryptonite is a rare element from the planet Krypton that was scattered throughout the universe when the planet was destroyed. Kryptonite emits a kind of radiation that Kryptonians absorb. This radiation is toxic to them, and will eventually result in them weakening and dying. Green is the most common form/color of Kryptonite to exist and now can be found in the city. Be sure to check out our world changes page over here and our world regains page to track all changes and read up on our guidelines. Players are free to buy back certain aspects of their canon to help impact and change the world as well, though we may delay the installment of some features for plot purposes. Players may also contribute points toward bringing back world patches representing their canons that other players may explore outside of the city! Please see the world changes page for more information. Of note: players are allowed to help contribute to buying world changes not from their own canon. Players may donate up to 500 points to another player's cause. When donating points to a canon buyback, please put them on the same world change page here! Please note, these are only for world changes and not items/powers/personal locations/etc. EVENTS EVENT, PT 1 With dreamshares still occurring and people beginning to wonder what, exactly, is causing it and what things they're remembering, Retrospec users will find themselves plagued by stronger hallucinations. People, places, scents and sounds from their memories will begin to solidify and appear more frequently around them as they go about their every day lives. They will find that the hallucinations last longer and others will be trapped in the same space, able to engage and even change the appearance of what they're seeing. Throughout the month, characters will be able to dreamshare and actively change how things go on a small scale. This can range from changing one singular event, taking a small item out of the dream, rescuing a dreamer from their fate and more. This sounds simple, doesn't it? If only. Beginning on the 5th, several Retrospec users will discover something rather strange upon waking up. This isn't your room. This isn't even your house. These aren't your pajamas or your sheets or even your own hands... A glimpse in the mirror will reveal that characters may have swapped physical forms with another Retrospec user overnight! Fully aware of who they truly are, they will have the challenge of going about their daily routines disguised as someone else and trying to find who may be running around as them. Is it a friend? Your sibling? Perhaps it's a complete stranger. Characters will be subjected to these body swaps until they locate their swap partner and find a way to switch back whether that be riding it out, making amends with one another or any other number of creative switch-back ways. This portion is opt-out! If you do not wish to play with body swapping aspects, you're free to skip it. At the same time, characters will find they are also susceptible to memory swaps. Retrospec users are capable of receiving other characters' canon memories and will be surrounded by the hallucinations of those memories instead of their own. This will also apply to AU memories. And as if that isn't enough, even without the weird body shenanigans and memory swapping, all users will find themselves receiving text messages and videos from an unidentified number. These messages and images will allude to original AU lives and canon lives, reminders of who they used to be and who they are according to Retrospec. In fact, they may even receive small, one-sentence blips from their profiles kept by Retrospec. These effects will continue up to the evening of August 16th. EVENT, PT 2 Beginning on the 17th, the dreams begin to take over entirely. Characters will find themselves pulled straight into the heart of those nearest and dearest to them (or even just anyone nearby, really), physically evaporating and falling straight into a trick of the mind. The landscape will reflect that of the dreamer and portray their innermost desires, their wants, their fears, and most importantly their memories that have been locked away via a new AU and otherwise. The dreamer themselves will fall into a coma-like state as other Retrospec users must navigate through their heart of hearts to unlock the hidden mysteries they hold there. OOCly, players will design a dreamscape for characters to play through which can include but is not limited to things that are important to their character, memories their character has from the new AU/old AU/canon, shortcomings and fears of their character, desires of their character and more. These dreamscapes are meant to be fundamental to the character themselves as the dreamscape divers untangle the mess they find themselves in. Characters will have the opportunity to learn more about each other, but there will be potential dangers and snares! For one thing, a dive may last longer than a day if characters ICly find themselves stuck in the dreamscape and cannot untangle the knot. The longer the dive, the longer the dreamer will remain comatose and the divers will remain missing. Should they interact with a portion of a character's memories in a way that completely changes the events related, they could very well erase a character's specific memory! Please notify the mod team if you are having your characters forget certain canon regains. These regains will have to be regained/bought back later if you choose this route. Finally, as it's a dreamscape reflective a person and what they know, monsters and dangerous situations are bound to arise. If a character dies in the dreamscape, they will be knocked unconscious and comatose for one week in the real world. Successful dreamdives will be met with a sense of enlightenment, and one free memory for every actively participating member. Please see the freebies section for more information. Failed dreamdives will result in a character permanently losing something of value to them whether that's a memory or an item! Failure is optional, but please let us know if your character will be taking this route. RESTORATION QUESTS Your friendly neighborhood NPC, Zee Carlisle, has been monitoring you and your progress, Retrospecters. Assessments have been finalized and files have been updated, but this NPC isn't going away. As a hiring manager, Zee will be interested in enlisting several characters for new adventures, quests, and volunteer assignments going forward in phase two. However, in the latter half of the month, Retrospec users will notice that Zee is in his office less and less. The automated quest system is offline, and messages to his inbox will begin to bounce back. Edit: In addition, as per the July plotting post, Zee is impacted by this two-part event as well and will not be assigning quests! Sorry for not reiterating this in this post earlier. Players may sign on for the automated system until the middle of the month but Zee himself will not be recruiting or assigning. FREEBIE -This month's freebie will require one thread from the mod-posted Restrospec post on the 1st featuring at least ten consecutive comments from you. As notated above, this freebie will not qualify past August. -In addition, you may qualify for a memory freebie in August by threading out a successful dream dive! This must be at least 5 comments from you, and it doesn't matter if you're participating or if you are hosting the dive as all players will be contributing. -For your reference, check out the plot clues/finds page found here! This is all for OOC knowledge, though characters have been spreading the information ICly as well. As of this post, this plot page is up to date. -Additionally, if you haven't yet be sure to check out the regains guide to help outline what kind of triggers will work for obtaining regains and memories in-game.
