PLOT POST - September Welcome to our September plotting post! Please feel free to comment to these posts with your character's plans for the month or with what you would like to do for the month, and feel free to discuss those plans with everyone else! Here is the mod questions thread! MOD BULLETIN BOARD -As voted on by the game, the next application round will be in this month! Yay! New characters will arrive in-game in October, and our AU workshop and TDM will go up this month. -AU changes were due at the time of AC closing! Going forward, these AUs that have been re-submitted are now game canon, and as mentioned in previous plot posts, we will have an opportunity later on to "succeed" in recovering an old AU if that is something you wish to do! -We have changed the posting schedule for the game! Please be sure to read the calendar very carefully to know when each post will be going up! -Due to recent shifts in the playerbase, we are down a few AC helpers and would love to have more on deck! If you would like to help us process AC at the end of every month, please send us a PM or leave a note on the mod contact page.  -We will have an opportunity for a monthly freebie every month going forward! However, we would like to clarify that all freebie regains must be applied for before the end of the AC period! We do not accept freebies beyond this barring specific circumstances.  -While freebies can be submitted at any point in the month, we would like to remind players that per the regains guide, we do ask that the last tag from you on a thread submitted for regular memory regains be no older than 14 days. Please do not trigger your own memories without submitting them and getting them approved by us first! Please also be mindful and keep your registries up to date with both memories and abilities! -Additionally, please remember there is no limit to how many regains you can earn in a month! Though you need one memory regain for your AC, you're free to claim as many as allotted for the month so you have time to pick and choose which one to link for AC. WORLD CHANGES • Housing itself in Enprise, a new shop called From Dust Til Dawn appears. Specializing in the distribution of dust, an element used as a fuel, energy source and munition supply, this shop is usually very quiet but the same shopkeep is always there to greet you. Be sure to check out our world changes page over here and our world regains page to track all changes and read up on our guidelines. Players are free to buy back certain aspects of their canon to help impact and change the world as well, though we may delay the installment of some features for plot purposes. Players may also contribute points toward bringing back world patches representing their canons that other players may explore outside of the city! Please see the world changes page for more information. Of note: players are allowed to help contribute to buying world changes not from their own canon. Players may donate up to 500 points to another player's cause. When donating points to a canon buyback, please put them on the same world change page here! Please note, these are only for world changes and not items/powers/personal locations/etc. EVENTS EVENT, PT 1 With the death of Zee and the loss of their liaison, Retrospec is in overdrive mode to stabilize everything, get the app back on track and fight outside sources that are seemingly meddling with their goal to revive the souls on the app itself. Retrospec will be unresponsive as usual as they continue to work to protect the users, but some of you may have heard the rumors by now. Magic appears to be interfering with the company's technology and changing the way things run. As per Joanne's message, unlike other app users Zee will not be returning back to life right away. His office will remain closed and his ID on the network has disappeared. There's a strange, almost electrical charge in the air and on September 1st, the Retrospec app goes offline entirely just as the timer on your hand hits zero. Oh. Did you forget about those? A sharp burst of static in your hands and ringing in your ears might be a friendly reminder. There's no post from the company. There's no warning. The app goes down and any attempt to open it seems to be broken. There will be no Retrospec post appearing on the 1st. All seems quiet after that and the static doesn't seem to go away. It dies down a bit to a more tolerable level, something annoying but not overall distressing. The scent of smoke slowly filters into the city, the smell of something overcharged and frying from working so hard but you can't quite pinpoint where it's from. It follows you everywhere though. On the 5th, however, the burning returns to your palm. A large red "A" or "B" appears in place of the timer branding yourself as an alpha or a beta. The moment you touch your phone for any reason… …your body begins to pixelate and disintegrate. Beginning on the fifth, all Retrospec users will find themselves disintegrating and filtering directly into their phone, landing themselves in a space very similar to their city albeit less…high-definition. The layout of the city remains the same, and there are even 8-bit versions of your favorite NPCs. Due to their programming, they can't leave certain areas! For instance, NPC family members will not be able to leave their job or their home, classmates will only be seen in class, etc. While the NPCs around are also 8-bit renders, characters will be their "high-definition" selves. Most importantly, characters will notice that while most NPCs are going about their day, spouting their pre-assigned catchphrases and dialogue, some NPCs are missing. All characters who were previously on the app and who have been rendered to NPC status will be missing! So where are they? Characters will have a chance to explore this digital construct to look for these people. New areas will be open to explore and characters will find that certain areas will appear to be "normal" in comparison to their new 8-bit landscape. There will be certain areas only Alphas can explore, and there will be certain areas only Betas can explore! Spread out, check things out, and see what you can find at the source of Retrospec. Take caution though! As characters spread out and begin exploring, they will also run into (cw: images of cartoon/digital bugs) a few viruses roaming around and eating everything in their path. This includes objects, buildings, characters themselves, and the files of new and old characters alike. Should a file be permanently destroyed by these bugs, that soul will be lost from Retrospec's back-up data. Good luck out there, and fight hard. More information will be available on the event log itself. EVENT, PT 2 Beginning on the 17th, characters will hear the sound of someone typing rapidly. Strings of code appear before their eyes and they'll find themselves blinded by a bright blue light. In front of them will appear a new central hub that acts as a data reserve. As characters approach the area, they will encounter layers and levels of glass cases containing all sorts of people. Some of these people may be recognizable to characters. Others may not. But each case will be labeled with one of the following: Projected Example Reboot One by one these prototypes will awaken, glass cases shattering and leaving them with many, many questions… OOCly, this will serve as our test drive! We will throw up a log for the TDM as usual, but there's a second and even more important portion of this particular TDM. September's TDM will also be serving as a fourthwall event! For those unfamiliar with the concept, a fourthwall event is an event where players may throw characters into a game's event without needing to test drive, app, or be a part of the game at all. In Recollé's case, we will be allowing for canon characters, characters from other games, and alternate AUs of characters to be thrown into this fourthwall event. Characters of this nature will be labeled as "projected examples." Players who are TDMing characters for the game itself will be required to play an AU as per the nature of the game, and they will be labeled as "reboot." In order to assure that players are not juggling too many logs and bouncing back and forth, we will be combining these two events into one log with instructions on how to label these character types. Labeling will help your fellow players know who is intending to TDM/app and who's participating for fun in the event. Additionally, this latter half of the event will allow an opportunity for a freebie. Please see the Freebie section for more information. RESTORATION QUESTS Zee Carlisle has not returned. Quests will not be given, and the automated quest hotline is down. FREEBIE -While we will not have a Retrospec-based freebie this month, we will be providing opportunities for multiple freebies in other ways! -Players may claim one (1) freebie by taking down a virus and eliminating it from the system. This thread must have at least five consecutive comments from you. -Players may also claim one (1) freebie by exploring an Alpha or Beta area only with another Alpha or Beta. This thread must have at least five consecutive comments from you as well. -Finally, for this month only, players may claim one (1) freebie by threading with a character that is test-driving, not fourthwalling! While we will allow all players to collect points for threading, we would like to provide a distinction between fourthwall and TDM. This thread, as you may have guessed, must have at least five consecutive comments from you. -For your reference, check out the plot clues/finds page found here! This is all for OOC knowledge, though characters have been spreading the information ICly as well. As of this post, this plot page is up to date. -Additionally, if you haven't yet be sure to check out the regains guide to help outline what kind of triggers will work for obtaining regains and memories in-game. As mentioned above, please feel free to comment to this post (and to each other) with your character's plans for the month for plotting and CR building.

For people who at least partially succeeded and lost elements of their AUs from the last two months, do they still remember those parts of their lives that were changed? Does Togusa remember Hikari even though she is gone now? If he goes back and looks at moments from the last two months on his cyberbrain, is Hikari in them?

Hey mods! Sorry if this has been asked before!
If someone has chosen to keep aspects of their new AU, how would other characters who knew them before remember them?

For instance, say that Gar and... Bob had important CR prior to July, but Bob chose to keep an AU where he became motorcycle rebel Bobberino while Gar retained his original memories. What would Gar remember? If Bob had an important presence in Gar's life as close friends or even a family member, but Bobberino is a different person altogether, how would that play out?

Togusa is overall actually pretty okay. Successful dreamscape navigation made him more prepared for the fact that his daughter disappeared. Hikari is gone, sorry! He will still be down, but it's more of a melancholy than a total Blue Screen of Death.

Despite the fact that Togusa is a detective, I will be trying to keep out of the Akira plot, unless someone specifically needs me. Although Togusa is ICly urging people not to do anything drastic, please leave it to the cops, he is going to fail to enforce this, so I will be keeping out of everyone's way. I may feed any information that the police got from the scene of Zee's death to a few characters to help give them an in if they need it? And I'll be glad to debate the moral question of the Retrospec users taking justice into their own hands forever, I love those conversations.

SO WE'RE ENTERING A NET SPACE, this month is going to be Regain City. Togusa is going to be very very upset about people disappearing, though. (Haaahaha, his best friend is becoming an NPC just in time for this.) It'll be fun! I swear!

[vine voice] what's up, his name is james, he's 17, and he never fuckin learned how to not pick a fight

Local punk/emo musician, former varsity football player, army brat, starting his senior year of high school this month, spent the past two months with total amnesia thinking he was an undercover spy. He's better now, though! Arguably. Here's what he's up to this month:

• Flying off the handle! aka, his newest arm has the ability to act autonomously while detached from his body. So of course, his arm is going to be on the run doing literally any kind of stupid bullshit you want, and James will need help catching it. Want the arm to punch you and mug you for lunch money? Pull down your pants? Get into a fight with your dog? Rummage around in the trash like a raccoon? Wiggle into a beta-only space even though James is alpha? Go wild, the more yakety sax it is, the better.


• James will be destroying his guitar! Just absolutely smashing that sucker to splinters, or like. Individual pixels, I guess. RIP. He's gonna try and do it alone hidden away somewhere, but uh, smashing a guitar is a pretty loud activity, so if anyone wants to see this, I am all for it.


• As far as HACK THE PLANET world goes, James is gonna be very upset at the (further) NPCing of his family, as well as the disappearance of former PC friends! He'll go searching for people and will probably end up murdering a bunch of bugs in the process, lbr. Anyone who wants to team up, hmu!


• Sometime in mid/late September, idk yet, James will be turning himself in for the assault and attempted murder of Zee Carlisle. More specifically, he's turning himself in for the time he tried to kill Zee in March, but will also end up taking the fall for his actual death in August. Either way, he's ending up with a very very long sentence--probably somewhere like 10+ years?
  
  • Police characters, let me know if you want to be there to witness and/or deal with this! He will be walking into the station and basically banging pots and pans together screaming for someone to arrest him until he's behind bars. It will be very public and very visible to anyone at the station.
  
  
  • ...assuming NPC'd reporters will still be like, doing their jobs properly, news reports/articles will mention that a military dependent living at Fort McCoy has been arrested after confessing to the murder of Zee Carlisle--James will not be mentioned by name in reports. However, it's going to be an open secret in Fort McCoy and James will be absent in school afterwards, so between that, the news, and James being one of the only military brats on the app, characters are definitely free to figure out what happened to him on their own!
  
  
  • While in prison, he will have sporadic network access and occasional visits, but uh. If you want in-person CR with James, get it in now. Because he's gonna be in the slammer for a while! (Not 10 years. But. A little while.)

Nevertheless, hi there everyone! Len here with Shion Sonozaki going by the AU name of Mio Sonozaki who just got out of jail and is now dealing with all of this bullshit so she's going to have a pretty fun time here. And more than likely going to attempt to stick with anybody that's a Retrospec user when this all happens because she's going to be extremely concerned about her close CR in particular and probably sticking close to them as much as possible.

Other than that, I'm not really sure what else Mio is gonna be doing, so I'm pretty much open to anything, come at me. If you need me, as always, I'm endlesseight!

*After his time as a depressed loser nerd, Gar is going to be acutely embarrassed and trying his best to way overcompensate show everyone what a cool and awesome fun guy he is, so for the first week or two, expect him to be excessively friendly and extremely abusive of his powers to do favors for everyone he meets.

*Thanks to his friends and some diving through dreams, Gar has also managed to quell the following issues he's been struggling with:
His fear of the future and what more changes will bring.
His fear of himself becoming a monster.
His fear of losing control of the animals and the animal instincts he channels.
All of this means... Gar has way more confidence and control of his abilities now and is like 80% less depressed. So...

*Gar is going Full Superhero at nights! And he is super interested in investigating a suspicious murder. He won't have any idea what he's doing, but he's sure gonna try to help. Let me know if your character would be some kind of law enforcement person who tries to stop him (or... help him... if they want...)! Or if your character would help Gar with Being a Superhero (tm). He's definitely going to go out and fight some bugs.

*As for the event... being in an 8 bit video game world is pretty much Gar's dream, so he's going to operate entirely as normal while screaming 'THIS IS SO COOL' every time he sees pixelated fire or something. Ignore him.

Foggy Nelson did not regain his original AU. He will put most of his energy into looking after his family members while this madness carries on. If we don't get to rp you can assume that he tried to be supportive to whoever he would have come in contact with during this difficult time.

Hi it's Charles (bigdamnhero, feel free to add me if you want/we interact) and I've got Elda Marker (this journal) and Natalia Fairweather (nachetanya) here. Random bits:

Elda Marker will need to feed on blood. I know I say this every month but I'm going to actually make a thing of it this month that she needs to set up a more proper supply line, be it stealing/borrowing from the hospital or finding regular people in her CR. She's been irregular enough it's doing weird things to her body and aging and I really should cement it down. If you've not read or filled in my blood affinity permissions (which you should) that also can do things to your characters. So! Let's do something about that.

She'll also probably be regaining the memory of the husband she talked about on the network last time being dead? So. Like. She's going to be kind of fucked up over that if anyone wants inbox stuff or... I'm not sure how I'm going to handle that. Probably mid-month?

That said for the mainstay of the event both of her sons (dropped PCs) are vanishing so yeah she's going. berserk. This keeps happening??? She's an alpha so she can explore those areas with you and smash some viruses and whatever the hell else. She's actually back to normal from her AU of AU 100% (so she's back to a 41 year old single mother of two) and honestly isn't much the worse for wear for it.

And then Natalia Fairweather had regained her canon name! ... She's not going to go by it but she sure knows the name Nachetanya Loei Piena Augustra now and that's super weird! And long! And wow! She's actually got a lot of drama coming off getting back from her AU of AU (so she is back to a 22 year old part time college student full time casino worker pain in the ass) and how frustrated she was with the last two months assuming/hoping she remembers it! And now her recently remembered BFF is more of an NPC and her world is digital and it's. A thing. She's got a lot of drama just rolling right into this month tbh.

Anyway she's also a beta and will be open to those sorts of threads with you. She might be edging more towards a low key mental breakdown part 2? We'll see. It's a confusing time in a young woman's life, okay. Sorry for all of the rollover threads I have for her (and Elda!) coming out of August but she would also wanna touch base besides.

In terms of the fourth wall outside of that I might have a character or two on there besides these two? We shall we. Maybe.

(He may also have another minor existential breakdown over how easily not just his memories but his actual past could be rewritten, but he's going to try REALLY hard to be chill about it)

He is a Beta, and I'm very down for having him explore some exclusive areas related to that! ...Beyond that, I'm wide open!

Hi! Sunny here with Makoto! After the dream dives he's feeling more confident about moving forward now even if things are going to get crazy around the city again he won't try to hide away from it. He's still going to be a college student and he's going to be doing more radio work.

He's a Beta and I'm up for him exploring areas with other betas too!

Other than that I don't have any solid plans with him so hit me!

Sup!! It's Luna with Xiaolang Li, Recolle's resident sassy lost child who IS FINALLY IN HIGH SCHOOL WITH ALL THE OTHER COOL KIDS, GOD BLESS-- he's also back to his normal AU (save for a few minor tweaks) so he's back to the huge science nerd and isn't Li-Na's brother anymore!

He's, uh... going to have quite the time this month, because his girlfriend just got NPC'd!! That in itself is enough to upset him, but the fact she'll be disappearing along with the other former PC characters once things go digital is also! Not going to be fun for him!! In fact, he's going to be pretty moody and shut off for the duration of the event, and also pretty reckless/impulsive in his actions to set everything right and get her back! So anyone who's a beta, have fun dealing with that if you're up for exploring any beta-space with him!

Yuichiro is reverting back to his military brat au from his idol one. So then doesn't need to deal with fans/fame pressure there anymore. Will have a more normal life in that sense at least, more freedom. He will be grateful for that at least. If annoyed/worried because npcs going missing means his foster dad will be gone AGAIN. What is with this app and distressing him over losing his family again. Why this.

He is a Beta so if any others want to explore, I'd be keen! He can just. Take out his frustration on the bugs or something. This is fine. Probably.

I'm also probably throwing a couple characters at the test drive/fourth wall.

For the second part of the event this is my current roster. I also have a few extra swords and Chocolate from Food Fantasy which I am voice-testing right now.

So first of all, Kiyoshi will be digging into music to distract from the sound of static. Expect to see him around with either a shamisen or a koto, and expect to play those instruments a lot.

8bit adventures! How fun! How weird!

Since he canonically gets threaTened with being eaten and once almost does get eaten, he obviously has to almost get eaten. He will need some saving because he is most certainly not a fighter.

We'll see what I'll do for the Fourth Wall. I have some character ideas for tdm'ing, as well as for fourth walling, but I'm not sure it'll happen. I may have other ideas by the time the log goes up.

souji seta / persona 4
→ souji has a completely new au that is very different from his original one so the details of that can be found here
→ tl;dr: souji no longer has a twin, he grew up in foster homes/families, his last name is now seta instead of narukami, and he has a bunch of new problems
→ he's still going to act like his normal goofy self but there are going to be underlying reasons as to why he goes so extreme with it sometimes. however, this shouldn't really affect his cr with anyone so don't worry! he'll still terrorize people with his 39482920 cats and jokes
→ feel free to confuse him with his old au details as he goes ??? at it all
→ anyway, no real set plans for him! just going to go around, being an alpha, exploring alphas with other alphas, making the obvious jokes
→ i guess he'll just continue being the disaster that he is

→ naegi will be reverting back to his old au and being the super poor artist that he is!

→ i would really love for him to fight off the viruses with someone! he doesn't have any superpowers or anything so i just want him to get in there with like... a shovel and constantly whack them to death. something super uncool

→ i haven't been able to do too much with jouhei so i'll be putting a lot of focus on him this month!
→ i will be having jouhei regain back his very first demon and while i haven't decided on which demon to give him, he's going to have a lot of trouble with it! because megaten demons are assholes who have free will unlike personas
→ i also want jouhei's new demon to cause trouble for others so if you are cool with your character being bitten or thrown into the air or something like that, lmk because i want all of jouhei's demons to be literal monsters
→ i'll definitely be having jouhei fight off the virus bugs and while i could have him use his new demon to fight them off, i really want him or someone else to use his nokia blockphone as a weapon. nokias are practically indestructable so they would make good hammers or something. someone please help me make this dream come true

Sup! Dani here playing Tatsuma Hiyuu from Tokyo Majin and Theobald Leonhart (known as Theodore Leonhardt to most and Kestrel Blade to anyone who follows his film acting career) from LiEat (lienhearts)! You can contact me at danidanidanica for plotting!

Tatsuma was a partial fail on his AU, meaning his parents are present in his life running a family dojo that teaches kendo, he has lived in Recollé all his life as the shy friendless kid until high school, and he has a job at the Confectionary now! However, he was still close to his grandparents and they are still dead, so that's a big bummer.

For this event he is an Alpha user and will definitely be checking out stuff that is limited to those people! I'm also going to gun to get him a memory regain of his master telling him he was taught martial arts to make him an assassin so I can let him stew in that a while, because that's fun. Luckily, that training means he's a fighter and therefore able to help take down bugs!

Theo on the other hand was successful at regaining this original AU, which means he no longer has to care for a little sister - though it's going to fuck him up mildly that his life changed like that, thanks Retrospec. He is a Beta user and will be exploring those areas as well! I don't have too much planned otherwise with him, but I'm happy to throw him into others' plots and shenanigans. He's not much of a fighter and hasn't remembered how to wield a knife (though he has remembered that he once did) but I'm okay with him having Bad Bug Experiences if people want to swoop in and help or what have you.

I'm also offering one character for the 4th wall! I'm leaning towards Yuuki from SAO, but let me know if someone catches your eye and I'll consider it!

Lucy (long_live_the_queen) has mostly reverted to her previous AU; she's an angry delinquent again just in time to...not go to school because she dropped out in high school. Notably, her mom is in Recolle! And, like, alive. And supportive. Which will help because Lucy's going to be Very Upset with Minako going NPC and then disappearing entirely. Though since her mom is also an NPC there's a limited amount of comforting she can do, so there's a non-zero chance that Lucy will lash out violently. She probably won't kill anyone.

She also needs a job so she won't get in quite as much trouble.

Amelia Wagner (smothershadow) is mostly the same, AU-wise, but she kept her professional and social contacts this time and is actually employed at a (normal) architectural firm instead of being a stay at home mom. So now she has more of a reason to stick her nose into things.

She's also just started learning about Pelleas properly, and is kind of Distressed. And trying to avoid the subject, like a healthy person.

Ari here! Futaba half failed her AU2 for Reasons and the Weesley family lives on in everything but name. Everything else has been shifted back to her original au so leotaba is sunk like the titanic again. Don't worry, we're working on it.

Futaba is going to be massively unhappy for the first half of the month with the double hit combo of remembering disintegrating related trauma and a good portion of former cr (baren. we’re talking about baren) Not Being Present in the digiworld.

She’ll be coping in the best way possible and by best I mean making everyone else suffer. I’m very here for any suggestions and ideas anyone has besides memeing her best life at people.

Hello this is Mola with Suzu Kuromori, who is back to being a burnt-out and softspoken nursing student loser that spends 85% of her time studying and working. I'm retaining some AU changes, such as having a YouTube/NND channel where she uploads metal song covers and never shows her face, and some CR stuff. She also retains her obsession over conspiracy theories and cryptids, and releases a monthly podcast about them with her friend, Akane. Due to these changes, I've rebalanced her personality to be quiet, albeit sassy and grumpy at times, but goes to being an explosive swearsalot when sufficiently angered/stressed.

She hasn't had a very good last month, and it doesn't help she can't remember bits and pieces of it. She's very confused on how her savings have taken a sizable dip, or when/why she had a huge chunk of her hair chopped off and now she can't cover her weird eyesAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--- She'll be looking for new part-time jobs and also sitting alone in the corner of some bar with her face in her hands despairingly wondering where she lost all control of her life. weeeh.

Suzu is a Beta and probably would want to take one of those bugs home until it tries to eat her.

Matt Murdock has returned to his career as a city prosecutor, making him very interested in this whole murder mystery. He also may have been the first to find one of the victims' dead bodies... 'tis the vigilante life.

He is keeping his marriage and family from the new AU which might lead to some funny confusion if your character previously interacted with him.

Matt is a beta and can be partnered up with for exploring or fighting bugs! (Still figuring out how he's going to interpret the digital world with his lack of sight/super senses.)

In other words, he's here as an Alpha with no AU changes; he's going to be internally very Not Happy over former PCs disappearing, and honestly at this point he's stressed out over dream dives and the shitshow extravaganza that his memories tend to be and as such he's here to just kill things for a while and try not to have an existential crisis. (He is having an existential crisis.) If you want someone with you for the sake of exploration, let's do this shit; if you want to plot, you can hit me either here or on plurk at InstantEternity!

As a note regarding the dream dives, I am still willing to work on tagging those to completion, I've been extremely sick over the past while and as such slowed down a great amount after the initial posting of the log; I will definitely get on that, though, given that I can actually...sit up and do things for more than two minutes at a time now.
