PLOT POST - October Welcome to our October plotting post! Please feel free to comment to these posts with your character's plans for the month or with what you would like to do for the month, and feel free to discuss those plans with everyone else! Here is the mod questions thread! MOD BULLETIN BOARD -We would like to announce that we will be holding app rounds in both October and November! After this time, apps will resume their bi-monthly cycle. October and November will receive workshops and TDMs as well. -We have changed the posting schedule for the game! Please be sure to read the calendar very carefully to know when each post will be going up! -Due to recent shifts in the playerbase, we are down a few AC helpers and would love to have more on deck! If you would like to help us process AC at the end of every month, please send us a PM or leave a note on the mod contact page. -We will have an opportunity for a monthly freebie every month going forward! However, we would like to clarify that all freebie regains must be applied for before the end of the AC period! We do not accept freebies beyond this barring specific circumstances. -While freebies can be submitted at any point in the month, we would like to remind players that per the regains guide, we do ask that the last tag from you on a thread submitted for regular memory regains be no older than 14 days. Please do not trigger your own memories without submitting them and getting them approved by us first! Please also be mindful and keep your registries up to date with both memories and abilities! -Additionally, please remember there is no limit to how many regains you can earn in a month! Though you need one memory regain for your AC, you're free to claim as many as allotted for the month so you have time to pick and choose which one to link for AC. Remember that a regain is only eligible for AC if it has been approved by us in the current AC month. Please be sure to turn your regains in early to ensure they are reviewed prior to AC! -We would like to use this time to provide a friendly reminder to please use your character tags to tag yourself on posts and logs! This helps keep things organized not only for us but for your gamemates as well. In addition, if there is an error with your character tag or you need us to change anything, please let us know. WORLD CHANGES • At this time there are no current world changes! Be sure to check out our world changes page over here and our world regains page to track all changes and read up on our guidelines. Players are free to buy back certain aspects of their canon to help impact and change the world as well, though we may delay the installment of some features for plot purposes. Players may also contribute points toward bringing back world patches representing their canons that other players may explore outside of the city! Please see the world changes page for more information. Of note: players are allowed to help contribute to buying world changes not from their own canon. Players may donate up to 500 points to another player's cause. When donating points to a canon buyback, please put them on the same world change page here! Please note, these are only for world changes and not items/powers/personal locations/etc. EVENTS EVENT, PT 1 It seems as though you've shaken things up, Retrospecters. With suspicions high and several of you questioning each other, it appears your problems are greater than you anticipated. There's a wolf in sheep's clothing among you, but you've taken enough steps to free yourself from safe mode. Starting on the 1st at 12pm (nine hours before the Retrospec post goes up ICly), the viruses running amok begin to shudder, pop and explode. The digital landscape begins to fall apart, turning into pixels and fading away as if it's nothing. You find yourself floating suddenly, rising higher and higher until you, too, digitize and are spit back out into the real city of Recollé. Your phones are right where you left them, fully charged and untouched. If you try to track down the glass building you will find that it's disappeared, but Rainbowland's still there. How…nice? You may notice some new users on the app for the first time in several months. New Retrospec users will find that the "Reboot" tattoo branding their hand will fade and be replaced with the word "Epsilon." Alphas, Betas, and Epsilons will notice that network posts will continue to be tagged without names attached but rather their newly issued IDs. OOCly, IDs are comprised of their title, the date they showed up on the app, and the digits on your character's inbox post. So for example, the Recollé NPC who was on the app would have an ID of Beta#0201188329. While user pictures can be displayed, Retrospec users will also experience broken pixels on occasion that obscure the face of whoever they're speaking to. (i.e. we will allow for players to play with an anonymous option if they wish.) It starts out fairly innocuous at first. Characters may just be relieved that everything is as it was, the chill fall air settling around the city and Halloween just around the corner. They may find themselves busy playing catch-up after a month inside a digital scape performing fetch quests for new titles. But for a handful of Retrospec users, a feeling of paranoia will settle over them, mounting in intensity in the coming days. It's a feeling of instability and doom, knowing that something is coming but not able to tell what...until October 5th. On October 5th at 9pm, the moon rises in the night sky, a sheen of blue washing over it briefly before it hangs above the city and casts a golden glow over everything. A full harvest moon lingers and will remain in the sky for the entirety of the month. The sun will not be making a reappearance, and characters will find that it's similar to an overcast, cloudy day with the only light source being the bright moonbeams from above. As the moon hovers above, however, those same users will soon understand what that intense paranoid feeling was and they will begin to notice notice shifts in their personality, their thoughts, and even their physical shape. Monstrous changes begin to take over and the Disease starts to go viral. Characters who sign up will be infected with a strain of a monster virus that will encourage them to give in to primal instincts and spread the infection across the city. Players will have the opportunity to play with mental, physical and emotional changes of monster transformation, allowing their characters to infect others via traditional monster touch (such as biting, scratching or other physical violence) or transference touch (such as sharing drinks, living in the same space and being too close for too long, or even intense eye contact with someone you don't know.) Monster-esque characters will have the liberty to be creative in how they transfer the disease; there is no wrong answer here. Sign-ups will be capped at 30 characters with one character per player! These will run from now until 10/3 at 11:59pm EST or until we reach our cap to allow for maximum plotting. We will be RNGing results of the sign-ups and providing more information about monster traits and types, but the below are the groups of monsters you may receive via sign-ups: GROUP ONE: zombie, merperson, harpy GROUP TWO: ghost, golem, slime monster GROUP THREE: vampire, mummy, shade GROUP FOUR: werewolf, demon, evil robot You may find sign-ups HERE. Characters who are also part of the initial strain of the virus will have the opportunity to rotate between three monster choices! This means that you may play with the changes and infections of several different options to create different kind of monster combinations, infect certain characters with a certain strain of the virus and more. For example, if you're infected and start to transform into a golem, you may later interact with someone and become infected again with a vampire strain of the disease, becoming someone with a golem appearance and vampire tendencies. Likewise, those that start out with the infection may be infected by someone else to continue building a chain and spreading the disease. What about those who aren't infected? Characters who are not a part of the initial wave of infection will be vulnerable to infection from their fellow app-users. However, these characters also have the advantage of having their senses heightened (sight, hearing, smell) and will be able to work together to locate items and clues around the city and the four regions in the city (Pesgare, Respatrum, Bosuma, Magatus) that will help them combat the disease and protect themselves from infection. These items will be ranging from physical weapons to magic spells and will require multiple parts! No one item will help fend off the infection. Multiple people or multiple teams will have to pool their resources together to create tools to help several people all at once, isolate the disease, and find the source to cure the original group of infected characters. Some items may make characters strong against one type of monster, but they will become more vulnerable to other types. Some items may be easy to make while others require days to brew, leaving characters with a choice of finding another way or taking their chances to wait. Trust your instincts and see where it leads you. As for those wolf emblems some of you received last month? Well. You'll see... Please use this post to plot out if you would like to infect players, be infected by monsters, what kind of combinations you might like to go for, and create search parties for items to create! We will have a sign-up page as well for search parties beginning 10/5 where we will relay comments of what characters can look for and where to find it. EVENT, PT 2 On the 17th, the moon begins to change its color. Shifting from a golden harvest moon to a blood red circle in the sky, the infection will also begin to spread to NPCs. NPCs will shift into the physical forms of these monsters and have a harder time resisting the urge to give in. A cornmaze begins to sprout up all over the city, burying the buildings and landscape around the city. Birds begin to caw and follow characters, some even attempting to peck at characters and scare them off. Large, looming scarecrows will stalk the corn fields, hunting down anyone they can find to drag them away and kidnap them through the husks, but luckily for Retrospecters the calvary will arrive. This event will be combined with our TDM for October! Characters who are TDMing will receive a special role in this event that allows them to integrate with current characters and for all characters to work together to find an actual cure for this disease. More details about this specific log will follow. FREEBIE -Players may claim one freebie for a thread on the mod-posted Retrospec post that is 10 consecutive comments from you! -Players may claim one freebie for infecting (or being infected by) at least three different characters (this can be on the mod-posted log or in your own logs/inboxes.) These threads must be at least five comments from you. -Players may claim one freebie for exploring with a partner or a group and finding items to begin creating protective gear to ward off the infection. This thread must be at least 5 comments from you. -Finally, as we found that this was a format that worked well, players may claim one (1) freebie by threading with a character that is test-driving. This thread must also be 5 comments from you. -For your reference, check out the plot clues/finds page found here! This is all for OOC knowledge, though characters have been spreading the information ICly as well. As of this post, this plot page is up to date. -Additionally, if you haven't yet be sure to check out the regains guide to help outline what kind of triggers will work for obtaining regains and memories in-game. As mentioned above, please feel free to comment to this post (and to each other) with your character's plans for the month for plotting and CR building.

MURDER/DEATH NOTE PLOT:

Hahaha, no. Yeah, he's killed people. And he needs some more victims! I have at least two that I need to help leave the message to Jim. There are several ways to get involved with this subplot!

• Become a victim! Notably, Light would need a reason to target your character, but we can work out details if you are interested. Particularly if your character is already involved in criminal activity OR could somehow be a threat to Light getting found out.
  
• Join the investigation! There are different parties now involved in looking into Zee's murder as well as the deaths that led up to that. If you are interested, I am happy to coordinate with providing plot and info OOCly for you to use ICly.
  
• Become a supporter! C'mon, SOME of you are on #TeamLight, aren't you? Right? I would love for Light to start seeing some approving voices in any degree.

OCTOBER PLOT

Light is signed up to be infected, so details to come with which monster strain. But that being said! If you'd like to run into Light being a monster or if you want your character to get infected, I am open to that too.

if I didn't have to go through the pain of buying back all of Tatsuo's regains, I would say KILL HIM. but alas. i spend all his points on rainbowland. /womp womp

that aside, I'm thinking of having Tatsuo focus more on the first six murders. i think there are plenty of people covering the Zee angle. but basically, I'd like for him to look at those six criminals and try to figure out who on Retrospec might have a connection to them.

i have so many points for Li-Na i could probably off her and get her regains back pretty quick, but there's really no reason for her to pop up on Light's radar

sweet. my thought is that he'd go digging through case files that involve them, see if he finds any commonalities. which.... if they had a lot of crimes to their names, could take a while.

Some of them had more than others! The higher up the chain they go, the larger their rap will be. Light (and Goro's) father will show a connection to one fo the lower rung guys, though his death would be considered the first!

Mariko (aka The Major from GitS) here is going to be one of the people investigating the Zee situation because Togusa is involved and she's his superior officer one of his best friends that happens to be a PI that can go places he can't.

That said, I kind of want her to be one of the later victims - it will probably help her get at least one regain and we can get some philosophical sparring in beforehand

AHH WONDERFUL! I do want to make sure that everyone is aware of the death penalty in game, which have the details here. If that seems kosher to you, I am happy to work out details as they come. I do imagine that this plot will go on for a couple of months with a climax (hopefully) at the end of the year.

Yep, I looked it over. I'm actually waiting on an answer from the mods, but as soon as I have that - we are more or less go.

Also, the closer to the end of the year she gets targeted, the higher likelihood for tasty tasty tears

Yes, yes that basically sums it up. His main motivation was revenge for his father, then just kind of fucking with the criminal organization his family was a part of because he's never been on their side. Zee was sort of unintended but also inevitable--he would turn his attention to Retrospec at some point since he's never been fond of them, but Zee calling him out was enough for Light to want to make a point.

Togusa is going to continue to chase down false leads, but Akira is already sticking out in his mind from "The Watchers In The Dark" message. If you need to get two more kills in for the message (Light you asshole really this is what we're doing?), cool, I'll be sure not to try to make a move until then.

THAT IS TOTALLY WHAT HE'S DOING. It's more fun with a complete message, right? Togusa is more than happy to get closer in on Light, though. I would also love more chats and I am also for like, Light being questioned by the police as well. He will act as if he has nothing to hide.

I would like to see if I could get Derek involved in the investigation. Probably on the CSI side. Once Togusa started questioning him, he's all, "Are they even doing the investigation right?"

But also, I'm sure Akira will be able to trigger some "murder" memories for Derek. Like when the school finds out Cedric Diggory is dead.

Twenty years later, I finally remembered to comment here.

I would love to have Lucille get involved in the investigation. She's already coordinating with Togusa to help in any way that she can, but I think it might be interesting for him to have a classmate who is in on this.

I'm not open to murder myself, but I am all for having her get in over her head.
