a wild player plot appears!

Hi all, so a sudden player plot just kind of coalesced real quickly out of the February Retrospec post. I wanted to post about it here so everyone's in the know and can get involved if they would like!

Late in the evening of 2/5, Zee will be kidnapped by James, Li-Na, and Derek. They will be transporting him to Derek's apartment for "safety purposes." So Zee will not be in his office from 2/6 onwards until 2/12 (or sooner, depending on how the plot goes)!

There will be some clues left behind at the scene of the crime and James, at the very least, will not be particularly secretive about what's happened. He'll openly admit to kidnapping Zee, but will not admit where they are keeping him. Other characters are totally free to do some snooping and try to get involved in whatever way they'd like--freeing Zee, helping the kidnapping brigade for whatever reason, so on and so forth. If you have regains related to kidnapping or anything like that, this would be a great way to get them!

The plan right now is I'll be putting up a separate log post for this little plot where the kidnapping will go down and where anyone who wants to try to rescue/sabotage/do whatever else about Zee can do so! And by 2/12 (or sooner), Zee will be rescued/escaped and back to normal availability.

Xiaolang probably won't assist with the kidnappping since he's a good boy, but I do want to get him involved in the rescue somehow!! Not so much because of any attachment to Zee, but two out of the three perps are people he knows and he will have so many words for them.

He has a tracking spell that could be used to help find him, should anyone want to utilize that for their search! It needs a personal item of Zee's to work, but that could be done by searching his office or something!

These two would make a fun team up, between Xiaolang's spell and Matt's senses they could probably track down Zee pretty effeciently.

Real question is whether Matt will be in civilian mode or vigilante mode for this endeavor, since Xiaolang coming across him in the red suit would be hilarious

Like he can't judge people on their outfits given his own memories, but he will just. Side eye him SO MUCH.

Matt is more likely to show up in civilian clothes so he won't draw the suspicions of any other people investigating. Xiaolang will have to see him in the crazy costume though, we'll find an excuse!

Well, Al would be down to help the three of them, although, since he has never seen Zee in person he might go like

"Soo...since Li-Na is here, I'm assuming we are doing this for a good reason...so then, if we get chased, I can just firewall them out"

I am laughing my ass off and Mariko is going to be ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS. She's primarily an investigator, so she's on Team Unkidnap

This could make an entertaining reason for these two to spend time together now with Mari's computer brain. Matt would have some empathy for the whole head-swarmed-with-weird-noises-and-information thing. They would also be awkwardly reminded of back when they used to go on punch-bad-people dates.

Except no, not really because Bakhura is undecided on whether or not he trusts Zee and is absolutely down to help with the kidnapping in any way he can because he's interested in getting more information out of him about what's coming... he was a thief in his past life and a former pickpocket in this one so he can probably swing something if you're down for it!! (Just don't get him arrested or he's bailing on your asses. He needs his current job a lot more than he hates Retrospec.)

hmmm we can try to work something out! Maybe Bakhura can be like a lookout for them, or maybe a babysitter so the OG kidnappers can rest for a bit. Of course, depending on if they can trust Bakhura in the first place...

Bakhura did kind of betray Goro That One Time back in the first August event, they're well within their right to be Suspicious ^TM even if he's only acting as a lookout

Especially in James' case because Bakhura is close with Malik even though Bakhura has absolutely zero idea about how... well James and Malik have been getting along since day one LMAO

But that works for me, and for Bakhura from an IC standpoint since he can bow out to save his own hide if he feels that things are getting a little too heated -- he's still an opportunistic bastard even in AU

the fun thing is, James and Bakhura have literally never talked. All he knows is they were in The Warehouse that one time together and that's IT

he doesn't actually know that Bakhura and Malik are even FRIENDS

he has no reason to trust or distrust him actually. yet. so we'll see how that ends up lol

Kidnapping is a great bonding activity whether you're the victim or the perpetrator, apparently

But yes, let's see how things play out! If nothing else, Bakhura has spoken to Derek a couple of times so that makes at least one person in the kidnapping brigade that's not a complete stranger even if he's not entirely sure whether he can trust any of them either just yet

Matt would be on team find Zee at least up until he hears a convincing argument that they're doing the right thing (good luck with that). Don't make this awkward by making him track Zee like a search dog. He'll be listening for lies out of the mouths of the kidnappers.

While Raina is new to the app, she won't tolerate kidnapping, not to mention she has very high observation skills so she will at least investigate the scene for herself at some point and also because she actually does have some kidnapping regains to get out of this so she will definitely help, even if she gets deterred in any way.
