Black Tie & Tails Charity Fundraiser!

Are you ready to rock your socks off, Recollé? Probably not, seeing as Spring Fling isn't for another month. And you probably shouldn't, because this is...

❦ A Fancy Fuzzy Ball.
With the majority of residents settled into their new weird lives and everything else that comes with Retrospec, one of the city's heiresses has decided to throw a fundraiser. This isn't unusual given her previous charity work, but she's going out of her way to make sure everyone has fun. Ariana is a great lover of animals small and large alike, scaly and otherwise, and so this benefits the Recollé Animal Shelter.

Everyone is invited.

This will be a gala just like the ones you see on TV after the Grammys. Stupid fancy food, stupid fancy costumes, and... cute dogs. Cute dogs everywhere. A few harness-trained cats will also be on hand as part of the meet and greet, detailed further below. This is a shameless opportunity to dress up your characters but it's also a great chance for mingling and dance-related regains.

❦ The Grand Event.
On the night of Saturday, April 22nd, a large room in Recollé's convention center (wait, we have one?) will be turned into a ballroom. There are two requirements for entry:

❦ Partygoers must be dressed business casual at the minimum. No jeans or Birkenstocks allowed. Suits, tuxedos, cocktail dresses, fluffy gowns, slacks, things that are in between or perhaps neither-- all of this is fine, as long as it looks like an effort was made.
❦ A minimum donation of 5 dollars OR a can of pet food must be given at the door. This is a fundraiser, after all. Characters who can't make the monetary donation can earn their way in via volunteering (see below). Those who would like to donate more are welcome to fill out cards inside the venue.

The theme is animals since the event is to raise money for the animal shelter. Characters are encouraged to dress up with cat ears or puppy tails or whatever tickles their fancy, though full on costumes are not allowed (the ice rink mascot has to stay home). Keep it classy!

In addition to dancing, music, and ridiculously cute animal-themed food, there will be a meet and greet for people to learn about the animals who need adoption and fill out applications for them. Dogs both young and old will feature the most prominently, but there are also a few friendly cats waiting to find their forever homes. There will be a book of profiles and pictures for people to peruse at their leisure which will include shelter animals that are not at the ball.

The dance will go on for a couple of hours, and then the biggest donators will be announced. After that, the party is officially over and everyone will be sent home with a cute party bag.

❦ The Helpers.
There are a lot of opportunities to have your characters participate in the making-of! Helpers will get a chance to mingle at the ball (as long as they change), and they can bring a +1 with them-- they also get in for free.

Shelter employees will be needed to handle candidates for adoption at the meet and greet. Musicians, both classical and non, will be encouraged to come play at the venue. Ariana is also in need of boutiques and outfitters for those who don't have an entire runway in their closet or would otherwise be too poor to attend; she wants to make sure everyone gets a chance to be a prince or princess once in a while. Cooks and servers will be in high demand, and miscellaneous staff will be needed to decorate the place, act as bouncers, and keep things running in general.

❦ Everything Else.
The log for the ball will go up on Friday, April 21 at 9pm Pacific Time. (I may forward-date it and post it earlier so that people get more time to dance, but we'll see.)

who wants to help put the animals in tuxedos? jade's doing that, because. she wants to and thinks it would be cute. she'll help out where she can but who says only the people can be fancy??

Ari is going to be busy as hell, but all the better for it! She'll be bouncing from corner to corner making sure things go well for everyone involved. For those she knows who decide they're too poor to go, she will be personally shoving designer clothes on them.

Sorey is a dork but he'll be taking a date~ he'll be wearing dog ears and look like a huge nerd. I don't think he'll be doing anything in the background, but!!! he can't dance, so that's... going to be hilarious.

Yep, that's the point! Plenty of dogs and a few cats are there, and whatever else is at the shelter itself can also be applied for.

Noah will be going purely because it's Ari's thing and she dragged him there he wants to support his cousin. He'll wear a tux and probably facepaint a dog paw on his face. He will also likely opt to spend as much time as he can playing with the dogs instead of actually interacting with other people.

What? Dogs are awesome and people aren't ok.

Also if you have a character who has CR with Noah but isn't likely to go (but you want them to go), you can say that Noah basically pushed them into going because if he has to go, you have to suffer with him.

Chloe will almost certainly be in attendance. It's a social activity and fairly normal to go to, so she'll be happy to show up. If anyone's looking for a more or less normal occasion for meeting her, this is a good time. She might just qualify as outright banal for this thing.

Surprise, surprise, because Yin will be there. She'll have regained a fancy dress and have friends encourage her to attend, much to everyone's disgust or amazement. Hey, she likes the animal shelter animals and wishes she could have a pet of her own someday but that requires 1) being able to take care of herself too and 2) having money.

People are welcome to help set off the memory of the school dance prior to the Vytal Festival, and the knowledge that she can, indeed, dance properly and not just throw her weight around in the pit.

Kurt will be in attendance, actually wearing formal attire and... I dunno, maybe dog ears or something? Something that's kinda goofy without clashing too much with the formality! But yeah, he's friends with Ari and sees no problem with helping animals. And he likes using his star power for a good cause even if his own bank account is suffering!

Aaand I haven't done anything with his image inducer so one thing I may do for this is have it activate on accident at some point (or several points) during the gala, which could be Kurt's cue that it's not exactly a normal watch. And he'll also still be coping with his newfound teleportation ability, so there can be accidents there too.

Toshi will be there! And since he's a regular cat-foster-dad, he'll be spoiling the heck out of said harness trained kitties (and probably carting one of them around on his shoulder all night...)

which is to say micah will absolutely be there because he got on the volunteering train at prompto's behest and has been there ever since. he adopted hush, his doggo, from the shelter, and it changed his life tbh so he's walking proof that you should adopt every dog. (hush will also be present and dressed appropriately!)

Ainsley will be attending of course, along with her dog Kara since she's from the shelter! She'll dress up in a fancy dress with cat ears + painted cat face combo while Kara wears a very fancy collar. The donations will come in the form of money and canned pet food because she wants to be supportive as possible for the shelter.

She'll be limiting her dancing and other activities since by that point, she'll still be struggling to keep her strange skills in check. But!!! Expect her to start sparkling in excitement at some point because it'll be fun to do, much to her later dismay.

There are rabbits at the shelter, but I imagine there's a couple in big cages too. They might not last the whole night though because it's very stressful for rabbits to be in loud places ;_;

If everything goes as planned, Gentiana will be attending the ball as Togusa's date for the evening. So expect to see the lovely duo on the dance floor and rubbing elbows.

As for volunteering, Gentiana is interested in volunteering her services to the animal shelter if they ever need anyone to take care of cats or dogs. She has some basic experience with animals, especially with dogs.

Dogs honestly love her.

As another shelter volunteer, Soujirou will absolutely be present. He'll be helping out with the adoptions, but also he's an absolute child about parties so he'll probably be all over. You couldn't force him into a suit with a tub of grease, probably, he finds the uncomfortable and stuffy, so he'll probably compromise by wearing a dress instead.

Maybe Kashuu will have actually fixed his hair before the event too. MAYBE.

Mostly he's here to help animals and eat deserts, though. Who cares about looking snazzy?
