PLOT POST - February Welcome to our February plotting post! Please feel free to comment to these posts with your character's plans for the month or with what you would like to do for the month, and feel free to discuss those plans with everyone else! Here is the mod questions thread! MOD BULLETIN BOARD -First and foremost, happy anniversary! It's been a wild year since the game's opening and the mod team is so grateful and happy with the success of this game! You guys have been fantastic players and have seen us through some bumpy and some fun times and we cannot wait for another year and the next phase of the game. We appreciate everything that you guys do, we appreciate your patience with us, and we appreciate all of the time and dedication you guys have put in to making this game yours. Thank you, thank you, thank you. -We would like to update on the status of plot clues and plot clues that can be bought! Due to shifts in the game going forward (more information will be available in March) we will no longer be offering plot clues that can be bought via points. Plot information may be available to obtain in other ways, however. Please follow up in March and keep an eye on February's event! -As we start moving forward into the next phase of the game, we would like to take the time to mention that the tone of the game will begin to shift as well! Events will become more hands-on and impactful, player choice will begin to really matter, and we will be adding some more serious/darker/whatever word you'd like to use elements to the game over the next portion of the overall story! More information will follow post-February! -Due to recent shifts in the playerbase, we are down a few AC helpers and would love to have more on deck! If you would like to help us process AC at the end of every month, please send us a PM or leave a note on the mod contact page. -We will have an opportunity for a monthly freebie every month going forward! However, we would like to clarify that all freebie regains must be applied for before the end of the AC period! We do not accept freebies beyond this barring specific circumstances. -Additionally, please remember there is no limit to how many regains you can earn in a month! Though you need one memory regain for your AC, you're free to claim as many as allotted for the month so you have time to pick and choose which one to link for AC. -While freebies can be submitted at any point in the month, we would like to remind players that per the regains guide, we do ask that the last tag from you on a thread submitted for regular memory regains be no older than 14 days. -We also ask that players do not trigger their own memories prior to clearing things with us! It's part of the game mechanic for regains to be done the way that they are, so this means we ask players not to have their characters feel memories coming on, etc. -Please be sure to keep your registries up to date with both memories and abilities! A good habit to get into is updating your registry as soon as the notification from us is received. This not only helps you remember what your character already knows, but it also helps us so that we can judge future regains accordingly based on what your character has already obtained. -We would like to use this time to provide a friendly reminder to please use your character tags to tag yourself on posts and logs! This helps keep things organized not only for us but for your gamemates as well. In addition, if there is an error with your character tag or you need us to change anything, please let us know. IMPORTANT DATES 1st Retrospec Post 9PM EST, sign-ups for February's event close 3rd Group assignments and partner assignments go out 12pm EST 3rd Event Log 9PM EST 14th Hearts Meme 31st AC Due Mar 3rd February Event ends see our calendar for a look at upcoming dates this month and further! WORLD CHANGES • Phantom Thief merchandise can now be found throughout the city. This means that keychains, shirts, and etc with a fancy logo can now be found along with make-your-own PT kits made up of masks and etc. • Pokémon berries are now also available in-game! These berries are mixed in and sold with regular produce and can also be found in the wild. Be sure to check out our world changes page over here and our world regains page to track all changes and read up on our guidelines. Players are free to buy back certain aspects of their canon to help impact and change the world as well, though we may delay the installment of some features for plot purposes. Of note: players are allowed to help contribute to buying world changes not from their own canon. Players may donate up to 100 points to another player's cause. When donating points to a canon buyback, please put them on the same world change page here! Please note, these are only for world changes and not items/powers/personal locations/etc. EVENTS Hang tight, Recollé, you're not out of the woods yet. Though you may expect the dome to come down on the first of the month, that dome stays firmly in place and the sun's hidden from the city until February 3rd. On February 3rd with the post of the city-wide event log, the dome will come tumbling down and reveal the long-awaited project Joanne hinted about in last month's Retrospec post. While we cannot give away too much detail, we will say that characters will have the chance to explore and their help will be needed to stabilize the world as they know it. Brainstorm your character's strengths and weaknesses as you'll need to team up and work together to create something new. In addition on the 3rd, characters who have signed up for the mod-run special event will have their event logs go live and they will disappear with their groups. You can read more about this event over here. Some of you may remember that February 3rd has been traditionally known as Founder's Day in the city! However, Founder's Day won't happen this year and instead characters will be given the choice to help or to hinder how the city is run. More details will follow in the log itself. Aside from this, throughout the month of February characters only in the city will find themselves targeted by arrows shot from invisible cupids. These arrows have different effects including: -Heart-shaped pupils -Rose petal storms -Intensified emotions -Flipped emotions All characters (city-based or group-based) will also find themselves in possession of a small colored stone shaped like a heart. These hearts will be tied to characters and when held will fill them with love for something incredibly important such as a person, an item, or an ideal. However, these hearts will also project emotions onto anyone nearby and if they're broken there will be permanent consequences. On February 14th, characters in the city will find themselves getting nice and cozy with one character in particular. Characters will find themselves bound together for a full 24 hours with the very first Retrospec user they see that day. The effects above will also be in play and it's all about teamwork getting through the day. Finally: as mentioned, our brand new NPC will make an appearance with this log and more information will be available in the log itself. FREEBIE -This month's freebie will require one thread from the mod-posted Restrospec post on the 1st featuring at least five consecutive comments from you with someone new. We define someone new as someone new to the game, or simply someone your character has never tagged before. As usual, this regain should be turned into our regains request post with "February Freebie" and the qualifying thread link in the explanation section! As notated above, this freebie will not qualify past February. -Group event players will be able to qualify for additional freebies (2 free memories and a 10-20 point item or 20 points) by participating in their groups and turning in 30 comments spread across all three objectives with a minimum of five comments per thread and featuring at least two characters. -City event players will be able to qualify for an additional free memory by participating in the log events and turning in at least 15 comments spread over a minimum of 2 threads (5 comments minimum per threads.) City event players may also qualify for a free 10-20 point item (or 20 points) if one of these threads is with a character you have not tagged before. -For your reference, check out the plot clues/finds page found here! This is all for OOC knowledge, though characters have been spreading the information ICly as well. As of this post, this plot page is up to date. -Additionally, if you haven't yet be sure to check out the regains guide to help outline what kind of triggers will work for obtaining regains and memories in-game. essentially this January would have been Maki's first time back in public school after like six years and she essentially is the big ol' loser new girl who has no friends (and is really bad at making friends) so interactions with fellow schoolmates would be cool! unlike her canon-self this maki isn't doing too hot in terms of academics so she probably needs help/tutoring if you're into that.
i spoke about this on her au workshop post but essentially for the past few years the bulk of maki's socialization has been online! very few of her online friends have any personal information about her so bridging that divide and having her slowly open up to any of those friends is also a thing that can happen.
maki also does a lot of piano covers of contemporary music that she posts on social media. she's had a very turbulent relationship with composing and playing because of how poorly her foray in the music industry went but i'd really like her to have people her age that are also into music so she can jam with them and shit (she plays guitar too).

kaede is a college student who does tutoring on the side, so i'd be happy for her to tutor maki! she'll also be regaining memories of being a pianist, so they could also bond over that later on!
